“This art-deco apartments’ magnificent arched windows and window seats were restored and then emphasised by choosing, tone on tone, subtle textiles for window seats, cushions and bedhead.

The buttery colour of the Portofino Graham Cracker from The textile Company was the perfect choice to complement the Beige USM Haller Bedside tables from Anibou.”

Squillace

by Squillace

Squillace Architects created a luxurious beachfront headquarters for Northern Beaches real estate agency Clarke & Humel. Situated on the doorstep of Manly Beach, the space was designed to showcase surrounding coastal views with executive offices opening to an expansive balcony as an extension of the interior. The clients wanted the space to feel elevated, relaxed, and warm; to emulate the feeling of a residential space rather than a typical commercial office.

This was achieved through materiality, form, layout, and lighting. The design direction took inspiration from the sites surrounding rolling waves, informing sweeping curves and organic forms throughout. Materials are textural and tonal featuring bamboo wall cladding, plastered walls, Victorian ash framed glazing, and The Textile Company Amalfi-Natural linen drapery. The colour pallet is a mix of subdued tones and playful pops of colour including blush, terracotta, powder blue, and sandy beige.

“We selected the magnificent Tree of Life fabric in Antique Rose by The Design Archives as the foundation for the Master Suite, and we adore the grandeur of the pattern on the bespoke bedhead and bed valance. The colours beautifully connect with the lush surrounding gardens, whilst infusing the room with warmth and intrigue. It’s a delightful homage to our client’s English heritage, seamlessly blending with the contemporary yet elegantly timeless ambience of their Melbourne home.

For the bespoke sofas in the Living Area, we chose The Textile Company, Sorrento in Duck Egg colourway. The gentle blue hue, subtle texture and exceptional durability made this the perfect choice for our clients, who love to entertain and spend much of their time at home this space that overlooks the surrounding gardens.”

“We selected The Textile Company Sorrento in Duck Egg colourway to upholster the bespoke sofas in the Living Room. We were drawn to this fabric’s beautiful soft blue tone and outstanding durability, making it the perfect choice for the busy family who live here.

Complementing this, we incorporated an array of bespoke cushions including the stunning Fabricut, Stony Island in Verde, which served as the foundation for the room’s overall scheme and colour palette.”

“Opting for Misia Portofino in Navy for my personal bedroom’s bedhead was an intentional choice. I wanted a visually robust and high-quality fabric to complement the bold choice on the border and base. I chose to railroad the stripe, spanning it across the width of the bedhead, a subtle detail that I believe enhances the overall design.

The consistently impressive quality of Misia fabrics has led me to incorporate them regularly into my design schemes. Selecting the Amalfi sheer for my window was a straightforward decision. The pocket weave of this linen introduces a weight that I find delightful on a soft roman blind.”

“When it came to the colour palette, we were inspired by the deep azure and sandstone hues of the harbour. Neutrals were favoured throughout the living area, with taupe tiling and carpet, gauzy, white drapery and a silky grey wall covering. Blue velvet cushions, luxe Venice velvet upholstered armchairs and a mottled cream rug added textured accents, carried through into the striking geometric prints hung above the dining suite.”

“For this project we fell in love with the colour and double weave in The Textile Company’s Amalfi sheer linen in the beautiful soft, cool grey. The colour complimented the muted aqua tones in the furnishings and filtered the hot sunshine whilst still allowing the expansive view to be seen.”
