HUKA LODGE
by Virginia Fisher Design
Huka Lodge has always carried a quiet kind of magic. Set within 17 acres of lush, riverfront gardens, it’s a place where the landscape does most of the talking—and as a designer, that’s endlessly inspiring.
From its beginnings as a simple riverside fishing camp more than a century ago, the lodge has evolved into one of New Zealand’s most iconic luxury retreats. For its centenary redesign in 2024, our goal was to honour that heritage while gently refreshing the spaces for today’s traveller.
Reopened in March 2025, the lodge feels renewed yet true to its roots. We introduced The Textile Company’s Boutique Outdoor Salerno fabric for the outdoor cushions—a subtle addition that brings durability, texture and a refined ease to the alfresco spaces, perfectly in tune with the spirit of Huka Lodge.
