PARIS DÉCO OFF2026: A FOUR DAY JOURNAL THROUGH PARIS

PARIS DÉCO OFF2026: A FOUR DAY JOURNAL THROUGH PARIS

October 1, 2025 | By The Textile Company | News

Every January, Paris Déco Off sets the tone for the year ahead – and 2026 felt particularly confident. Across four sun-filled days, we immersed ourselves in showrooms, archives, conversations and collections that revealed where interiors are heading next. From earthy new colour stories and archival revivals to bold theatrical statements, this year’s Déco Off was rich with inspiration, legacy and forward momentum.

Here’s our day-by-day journal from Paris.

Day One — First impressions & Parisian icons

We began Déco Off previewing the beautiful new collections from Camengo, Misia, Aldeco and Prestigious Textiles where a clear shift toward earthy, 1970s-inspired colour palettes immediately stood out. Terracottas, peaches and softened naturals replaced jewel tones- warm, expressive and perfectly in tune with the mood of Paris this year.

The afternoon was spent wandering the Right Bank showrooms before meeting Natalie from Highly Sprung Furniture for cocktails at the legendary Les Deux Magots.

Phillip Jeffries hosted a fabulous cocktail party celebrating their latest collection (more on that soon), before Clement Rivera from Camengo & Misia treated us to dinner at Café de la Paix, a historic institution once frequented by Coco Chanel and Ernest Hemingway, overlooking the Paris Opera. A memorable way to begin the week.

Day Two — Archives, conversations & theatre

Day Two began with a pot of tea at Maison Ladurée with the Jean Monro team, where we discussed the brands amazing history and their upcoming archival releases we’re excited to share later this year.

The afternoon was devoted to our favourite wallcovering brand, Phillip Jeffries, where Philip Bershad introduced us to their incredible new release, Night at the Theatre. Dramatic and confident, the collection perfectly reflects the beauty and theatre of Paris itself, as we wandered the vibrant Déco Off streets. We can’t wait to present this collection back home!

Dinner followed with David, AJ and Patrick from Fabricut at the delicious Tekes on the Right Bank, ahead of a fabric-filled morning to come. Bonne nuit.

Day Three — Fabric, food & artisan craft

Another stunning Paris day, made even better by the sunshine. We loved exploring the new collections from Fabricut, Trend, S. Harris, Stroheim and Vervain – a rich mix of pattern, texture and colour.

We had a wonderful meeting with Gaston y Daniela, an exceptional Spanish heritage brand celebrating 150 years this year. We’re so excited to be distributing this remarkable brand to our New Zealand customers, bringing its depth of history and design expertise to our local market.

Lunch was at the iconic Café de Flore, where Quiche Lorraine, Salad Niçoise and their famous hot chocolate lived up our expectations!

One of the week’s standout moments was visiting textile artisan James Malone. His new collection is beautifully pared back; natural basecloths and softened colours, inspired by his hometown of Málaga, create a coordinating story.

For dinner we queued patiently for steak frites at Relais de l’Entrecôte (well worth the wait), before heading back to the hotel for an early night.

Day Four — Presentations, museums & farewells

Saturday morning began with a meeting with Gary and Adam from Glant Textiles, a Seattle-based fabric house with its own mill in Northern Italy, producing exceptional fabrics – all sampled in our Auckland showroom.

We hosted brand presentations to visiting clients, before some free time in the afternoon; with a visit to the Picasso Museum, before heading to our final dinner in Paris.

On Sunday, we joined Tara and Jemma from the Phillip Jeffries design team as they explored the Saint-Ouen flea markets, sourcing treasures and inspiration for future collections planned 12-18 months ahead – a fascinating insight into how deeply brands are investing in research, archives and authenticity.

Au revoir, Paris – until next time…
