THE MAN BEHIND THE BRAND

At the southernmost point of Europe, nestled between mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, lies the headquarters of James Malone Fabrics, surrounded by bougainvillea and olive trees.

James Malone’s aesthetic is a blend of his English heritage and Andalusian lifestyle. He arrived in Malaga, the home city of Pablo Picasso, at 19 years old and by a twist of fate, discovered his passion for textile design. He now lives in Malaga with his Spanish wife and children, and on a clear day he can see across the Strait of Gibraltar to Morrocco. They holiday each year in Comporta, a beach side village in Portugal.

James Malone hand draws all of his designs and also pulls inspiration from his time growing up in England, whether it was his mother’s wardrobe, a motif he saw in his travels, or in the case of the new Albert design, a shawl he saw in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Known for his painterly style and natural materials, James produces all prints in a nearby digital print factory on 100% linen or a linen mix that he buys from Belgium, the leading linen grower of the world. His weaves again are his own designs and all woven in Europe, and his range of sheers come from Turkey.

He has recently opened a showroom in Madrid which is well worth a visit for anyone planning a trip to this great city.

INTRODUCING ANAGA

KELIM

Kelim refers to a traditional flatwoven rug, and in the Moroccan context, it is characterised by bold geometric patterns and vibrant colours, typically handcrafted by Berber weavers using wool.

ESPALIER

A timeless design revived from an antique embroidery instruction book, thoughtfully reinterpreted for the double width linen collection.

TWINING

This large-scale scrolling pattern evokes the grandeur of the natural landscape. Printed on heavy and durable wallpaper, it marries strength with subtlety.

TRELLIS

Trellis is a graceful design printed on a signature linen, featuring a double-tone, intertwining vine accented with delicate, colourful floral details. This elegant pattern brings a touch of nature-inspired charm to any space.

MENDIL

In Morocco, the “mendil”-borrowed from the Arabic mandil-traditionally refers to a handkerchief, cloth, or a distinctive type of woven scarf. James Malone’s interpretation reimagines this heritage through a contemporary lens, weaving thick linen yarns into a richly textured, weighty linen jacquard.

WIGGLE

Thick linen slub yarns create a subtle, wavy texture that reflects James Malone’s love for this silhouette. A beautiful design that works just as well as a feature fabric as it does supporting larger patterns.

LILY

A timeless design, revived from the pages of an antique embroidery instruction book, thoughtfully reimagined in a refined, smaller scale on a luxurious heavyweight linen.

JAIPUR

Inspired by traditional Indian block printing, Jaipur features a delicate grid-like pattern composed of subtle floral motifs. This design brings a timeless charm and a sense of heritage to any interior. Printed on our medium-weight linen, it offers both durability and a soft, natural texture.

IRATI

Named after the majestic Irati Forest-one of the largest and best-preserved beech and fir woodlands in Europe, nestled in the Pyrenees of Navarre, Spain-our Irati design captures the forest’s sweeping beauty and timeless elegance. This large-scale scrolling pattern evokes the grandeur of the natural landscape while being printed on our delicate mid-weight linen, marrying strength with subtlety.
