JAMES MALONE ANAGA COLLECTION
THE MAN BEHIND THE BRAND
At the southernmost point of Europe, nestled between mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, lies the headquarters of James Malone Fabrics, surrounded by bougainvillea and olive trees.
James Malone’s aesthetic is a blend of his English heritage and Andalusian lifestyle. He arrived in Malaga, the home city of Pablo Picasso, at 19 years old and by a twist of fate, discovered his passion for textile design. He now lives in Malaga with his Spanish wife and children, and on a clear day he can see across the Strait of Gibraltar to Morrocco. They holiday each year in Comporta, a beach side village in Portugal.
James Malone hand draws all of his designs and also pulls inspiration from his time growing up in England, whether it was his mother’s wardrobe, a motif he saw in his travels, or in the case of the new Albert design, a shawl he saw in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Known for his painterly style and natural materials, James produces all prints in a nearby digital print factory on 100% linen or a linen mix that he buys from Belgium, the leading linen grower of the world. His weaves again are his own designs and all woven in Europe, and his range of sheers come from Turkey.
He has recently opened a showroom in Madrid which is well worth a visit for anyone planning a trip to this great city.
